Searches in Master Dang sect leaders’ homes: Belgian Special Research Brigade conducts investigations in Switzerland.
Number of places was searched this Wednesday morning in Swiss cities of Geneva and Lucerne by two gendarmes of Brussels Special Research Brigade supported by local security police force. Operation based on Belgian letter of request was implemented on permission of Swiss examining magistrate Dumartheray in line with the investigation on the case of Mr. Luong Minh Dang, alias «Master Dang», leader of Spiritual Human Yoga (SHY) sect, charged with fraud and illegal medical practice.
The search warrants covered Swiss offices of the sect and private homes of its Switzerland leadership. Belgian sleuths arrived Switzerland on Monday, taking two days to prepare for an offensive that began yesterday morning. They are to return at the end of the week.
If this Wednesday operation uncovers facts supporting Belgian case, it is quite possible that newly discovered financial aspects could give a start for initiation of legal proceedings in Switzerland.
Mr. Dang was charged and arrested on 14th of January and is currently still under arrest despite a recourse to the court of appeals. The guru is estimated to have collected undeclared sums in the amount of 38 million Belgian francs (941,995.00 €). Belgian secretary of the movement, previously put under arrest as well, was released.
