The week ended hard for Luong Minh Dang, alias «Mr. Dang», the worldwide leader of Spiritual Human Yoga (SHY) group (1), quasi living god for its adepts, as well as for secretary-treasurer of SHY association of Belgium, Mrs. Vo Thi Minh Hiep. Last Friday evening, upon completion of "energy" seminar conducted in Genval with participation of over 1,000 persons, Mr. Dang was approached by Brussels Special Research Brigade of Gendarmerie (see «Le Soir» of January 9), and this Thursday morning Mr. Dang was summoned to the headquarters of Counter Terrorist Unit for audition, as gendarmes believe that practices used by SHY resemble fraud.
To remind, this pseudo-religious group affirms that on the coming 11th of August the Moon and the Sun will come to a hault, which will cause heat wave and lead to the melting of the polar ice packs. Evaporating sea-water will form thick clouds that will further cool the excessive heat. In brief, a catastrophe to prepare for. Over and above that, reversal of energy in the universe, people who are not prepared, will be eliminated beginning this 29th of January, as their bodies will not be in harmony anymore, thus they will have to undergo reincarnation.
How can one prepare? By following the teachings of Mr. Dang, consisting of seven levels of initiation (the fifth is doubled), taught against hard coins of the realm. The first level teaches about healing for one's spouse or child using laying of hands. The second allows healing of up to twenty persons per day. From level 3 on, one can heal an unlimited number of peole, and, with level 4, even heal over distance. But to be able to stand against the natural disaster, one should do the highest course, the «Level 6».
The compensation is «universal energy»'s possibility to heal such things as ... AIDS (SHY is providing report on «scientific experimental research» done in Thaïland)!
The price? A few tens of thousands of francs for each stage of training. For information, Mr. Dang, only in Belgium, has pocketed 18 millions of «conference fees» for nine days he passed on our territory. In total, he has gained some 40 millions in Belgium within last years, the sums the traces of which were found in the accounting documents of the Belgian association. Mr. Dang had trouble providing explanation on use as well as fiscal status of his fees, so on Thursday afternoon he was arrested, as well as the responsible of the Belgian association. Oversight of both was passed on to deputy public prosecutor of Brussels responsible for coordination of cult related activities and cases under consideration.
Brussels judge Damien Vandermeersch charged them on Thursday evening with fraud and illegal practice of medicine, and gave them the possibility to speak again this Friday morning in the annexe of the Palace of Justice, where he set in motion three searches on them: first in the hotel room of the latter, in the Château du lac de Genval (venue of the last Belgian seminar); the second in the National headquarters of the association, rue Vilain XIV, the rooms thereof being before sealed; and the third, finally, in the private home of the Belgian association treasurer, avenue Gustave in Rhode-Saint-Genèse, who also resided at the same address with the Belgian responsible of the group.
Swiss authorities keep a close eye on the development of the Belgian legal case: 5,000 to 7,000 adepts are expected to gather in Palexpo of Geneva this weekend to receive the teachings of Mr. Dang. Swiss police warned the adepts this morning that there is a chance Mr. Dang will not attend...
